Effects of Rewards on Employee Motivation
Employee satisfaction helps to identify employees’ performance and progress level and also how productive they are in their respective job roles. Looking after the employees are very important for an organization because most of the employees may not be happy with their current job roles due to work stress and pressure and also due to unsatisfied rewarding.
Having
a proper rewarding system can have a positive impact on employee motivation and
also will have a positive impact for the organization.
For Employees:
When
rewarding employees, it should be fair and well organized in order to get the
maximum benefits.
Firstly employees should feel that they are recognized by their superiors for the hard work been done.
The organization can give specific targets for their employees to achieve and reward if they achieve it. For an instance, in sales department, if they achieve their individual sales target they will be entitled for a commission. So the employee tend to somehow achieve their target to get their commission.
Rewarding has the capacity to make uninteresting tasks interesting. In some organizations, there can be certain additional tasks that needs to be done by the employees apart from their job role which requires additional time. So they will be reluctant to do it since they are not paid for that additional work. When an additional pay is given for the additional work they do they will get motivate to do the additional tasks.
When employees are happy and satisfied they are motivated to be loyal to the organization. They know that they are very important to the organization and the employer looks after them well therefore they tend to be loyal towards the organization.
Rewarding
will help to decrease the absenteeism rate in the organization. For an
instance, when employees are motivated, they will love to work without getting
leaves unnecessarily.
For the Organization:
Rewarding employees will be a cost for the organization. However, there will be many benefits gained to the organization when employees are motivated.
The organization will be able to retain the best talent in the organization. When employees are rewarded they will be motivated to work for the organization since they know that they are been valued and will not look for other jobs in other companies. Also the organization will be able to attract the best talents for the organization during recruitments since candidates will be aware that they are been paid and looked after well.
When employees are motivated they will give their best to the organization. They would be able to achieve their daily targets and increase the outputs. This would lead to increase in productivity and would ultimately gain competitive advantage.
Since employees will be loyal, it will help to have zero/ low frauds happening within the organization.
When
employees are motivated, they will work as a team and also will help each other
to complete the tasks on time. This will lead to improve the workplace culture
and also will create a supporting working environment within the organization.

Hi Shali, this is a very valuable topic and I believe most of the organizations use performance evaluation to reward the employees. It is challenging to mitigate bias when identifying the employees to reward. Therefore it is important to focus on facts and behavior, not personality. Also assessment of employees should be based on their actual performance, accomplishments, and contributions. Also should avoid judgments based on subjective factors like personal preferences or appearance.
